From the age of 7, under the help and guidance of his father, Andrew has been making things from wood. Growing up keeping chickens, pheasants, ferrets and rabbits, there was a constant need to build chicken sheds, pens, aviaries, hutches and the like…not forgetting an ever increasing number of go karts!

All these years of experience are reflected in the design, quality and strengths that can be seen in the products that we produce.

Boatman Works & Woodcraft build bespoke, high quality and very strong garden products.  Whilst we have a set of standard designs, most of our builds are designed, built and installed to meet our clients’ specific needs and location.  Every garden is different and often the standardised, mass-produced buildings are simply not suitable for your needs.

Our sheds are well designed and well built with high quality materials, they are very strong and last for years and are very good value for money.  At this point we have to be honest and say that for a simple, lightweight, standard sized “off the shelf” shed, we cannot compete on price with the likes of B&Q and online shed providers…that said, we beat them hands down for quality, strength and longevity.

We build using sustainably sourced Larch which is forested in North Wales.

Larch is very high in resin, making it extremely resistant to rot.  It can be left untreated without adversely affecting its longevity and will naturally turn silver over time.
